Caring for spaceship Earth
Earthmind’s vision for sustainable prosperity traces back to the Kenneth Boulding and his path-breaking concept of “spaceship earth”.
For Boulding, sustainability required the transformation of our increasingly globalised ‘cowboy’ society. As he put it back in the 1960s: “We cannot have cowboys and Indians in a space ship, or even a cowboy ethic.”

In 2010, Earthmind was incorporated in France as a small business (EURL 524 715 349). The founder and executive director is Francis Vorhies.
Previously, in 2006, Earthmind was also established in Switzerland as a not-for-profit association in accordance with Article 60 of the Swiss Civil Code. The board members of the association are Sarah French, Deborah Vorhies and Francis Vorhies.
Earthmind also maintains an office at the IUCN Conservation Centre in Gland, Switzerland, to host its programmes on verified conservation areas and sustainable wildlife trade.
