GEI
The green economy initiative (GEI)

On 16 February 2009, at its 25th Governing Council in Nairobi, UNEP released a new report on the "Global Green New Deal." It calls on G20 leaders to "green" their efforts to stimulate the global economy.

Earlier, on 01-03 December 2008 in Geneva, Switzerland, UNEP launched a new UN Green Economy Initiative (GEI). Importantly, biodiversity business will be a focus of the Initiative and is likely to be addressed throughout the report.
