Partners: Liaison with CBD (private sector and incentive measures) and cooperate with staff and consultants of the UNCTAD BioTrade Initiative.
Possible elements: 1. CBD newsletter for business sector: Feature in half or full page BioTrade's activities at COP8I.
2. Follow up on meetings on Business and the 2010 Biodiversity Challenge with BioTrade input.
3. At COP 9 highlight the BioTrade SME angle with perhaps holding another SME roundtable like at COP8, possibly with IFC support.
4. Regarding the business case for biodiversity, CBD will send notification calling for stakeholders to submit examples of business cases for biodiversity, guidelines, and other best practices to support development of an annotated bibliography and a typology. BioTrade opportunity to input.
5. Regarding input into other issues where private sector involvement is a cross-cutting issue, BioTrade suggested there is continued communication regarding how BioTrade can best contribute to the different discussions, such as ABS and tech transfer, where there is need for greater private sector involvement. Also to note is UNCTAD's participation in the Heads of Agency Taskforce.
