Workshop C: Markets for biodiversity goods & services

This workshop explored the challenges and opportunities of developing markets and business opportunities for biodiversity-friendly goods and services. It explored such areas as eco-agriculture, sustainable forestry and non-timber forest products, fisheries and aquaculture, bio-carbon, watershed services, biodiversity offsets/banking, corporate biodiversity management services, ecotourism, and recreational hunting and fishing. What can the EU do to encourage private investment in sustainable biodiversity businesses?

Moving to action: What should the EU do?

The final session generated a commitment of participants to work together on shared objectives with other stakeholders or specified what actions will be undertaken to contribute to the achievement of challenges and opportunities identified in the previous sessions. The session developed elements for a European Initiative on Business and Biodiversity.
